Auditions for "The Marvelous Wonderettes"

The Ron & Sheilah Gates Departments of Music and Theatre at DWU will have auditions for the musical at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 16-17, in the Patten-Wing Theatre in Hughes Hall on campus. “The Marvelous Wonderettes” features hits from the ’50s and ’60s and has four female leads, a mezzo-soprano, soprano, alto with a strong low range, and a mezzo-alto. To audition, prepare at least 16 bars from a song from the show. A list of songs is listed below. The musical features more than 30 songs from the ’50s and ’60s and opens with four high school girls at prom in 1958, serenading the audience with 1950s hits like “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.” In act two, the Wonderettes are back at Springfield High for their 10-year reunion, sharing what they have been up to since graduation.
